Our last post and our next couple will be all about moving tips we think are handy to have.  Today we would like to give you three pointers that not everyone thinks of.

  1. When moving, it is easy to get caught up in worrying about hiring a company, making sure you have supplies, and packing.  But there is another important thing to keep in mind before you move.  Make sure you schedule your utility shut off your current location and schedule it to be turned on at your new residence.  These are things such as heat/electric, cable, and home land lines.   While your at it, don’t forget to switch your billing addresses around for your other bills such as credit cards and cell phones.
  2.  Do you have a lot of extra items to move that you don’t use?  Moving items you don’t need adds time to the clock.  If you find yourself in that situation, we suggest trying to schedule a free pick up from a donation center.  Not only will you help those in need, but you will save yourself money and space by eliminating items you have no use for.
  3. While you are packing, you will need packing paper.  However, you can eliminate some of that cost by using your extra blankets, throws, and towels by putting them in your fragile boxes.  This will also help keep those items extra safe!
